The root was fresh and had plenty of potency. Always eliminates the tickle that leads to painful coughing from a cold. Supported lung function/healing nicely. Even worked on my friends persistent (3 weeks) cough and gave her more energy from improved airway function. Notable since she usu. has no response from most herbs. Qty was more than i expected for the price. Our local COOP doesn't carry it---they said they can't get it. Maybe not enough people know about it to work for getting a supply locally. I am trying to grow the Calif. version (L. grayii -- not as potent?), since L. porteri is so difficult. Great to have a supply again. 1 ounce will last me 5+ years! Definitely the number one herb for colds, flu, and prob. any other respiratory illness. You just need to nibble a piece the size of a BB to get hours of benefit. Water infusion doesn't provide the oil-soluble fractions useful for anti-viral action, etc.
